Reporting Monitor Data to the Topaz Alert Log and A-RCA
You can configure the EMS Integration monitors
to report the traps to Topaz Alert Log. This also makes the
data available for Auto Root-cause Analysis (A-RCA). The steps required
are described below.
Outline of Configuration Steps:
-
Create an empty EMS
profile in the Topaz.
-
Configure the Session ID
for the EMS monitor.
-
Verify the information is
shown in the Topaz Alert Log.
The following are detailed instructions you use to configure
SiteScope to report EMS Integration monitor data to the Topaz Alert Log.
To configure SiteScope to report data to the Topaz Alert Log
- Create an empty EMS profile in the Topaz.
- Configure the Session ID
for the EMS monitor.
-
Use
the newly created profile’s ID to edit the monitor configuration
file main.config located under:
<SiteScope
home>/ems/<monitor name>/<monitor config
file>. .
-
Set
parameter u_iSessionId:UINT to the profile’s ID.
If
the configuration file contains more than one section, set the parameter
u_iSessionId:UINT to the profile’s ID in each relevant section. See the section
Working with EMS Alert Probe Monitor Configurations for
more information about the configuration file.
-
Change TOPAZ_BUS_POST action to TOPAZ_POST in all
sections of the config file.
- When
finished editing the configuration file, go to the monitor configuration page
in SiteScope (Select the monitor, and Edit) and click on the “Update” button.
Note: it is
important to update the monitor; otherwise it will not refresh its
configuration.
-
Verify the information flow
to the Topaz Alert Log.
To verify the operation of the
monitor, use the Topaz site to view alert log report for the newly created EMS profile.
Login into Topaz and go to Resolution
Center ->Problem Isolation ->Alerts.
Select the EMS profile you have created in the step 1 above.
Note: It may
take a few minutes for the data to enter the database. Please allow several
minutes until you see the data in the report. Please select the time frame of
the report according to the server time when the data should be available.
